Merang beach stretches as far as the eye could see and what a view it is. The pristine seashore is home to quaint fishing villages with colourful traditional fishing boats lined up on the beachfront. Watching the captivating sunrise is perhaps makes up the memorable stay in Pantai Merang. Budget chalets and resorts are available providing comfort for weary travellers. Located 30 km to the north of Kuala Terengganu, Pantai Merang is also the gateway to the islands of Bidong, Redang and Lang tengah with jetty located in the riverbanks of Merang River.

There are ample parking spaces, resting areas, food stalls and souvenir stalls at the jetty. Another good spot for a visit is the Merang Sky Observatory Centre operated by a local university.  As the observatory is perched on top of a hill overlooking the vast expanse of Pantai Merang, the view can be considered spectacular.

By Road
Situated 30 km north of Kuala Terengganu, travelling time takes 20-30 minutes depending upon traffic. By taking the Sultan Mahmud Bridge until reaching roundabout Batu Enam, take 3o’clock route  towards the coastal road. Follow the road signages using coastal road.

By Bus/taxi
There are taxi services available from Kuala Terengganu Taxi Terminal. Most hotels in Kuala Terengganu should be able to arrange taxi to Pantai Merang. There is a bus service that plies the route nearby Pantai Merang but it would be much convenient to either grab a taxi or arrange car rental as the bus service is infrequent.

By Air
There are direct flights from Kuala Lumpur by Malaysian Airlines, Air Asia and Firefly. There is also a direct flight by Firefly from Singapore. As most tourists prefers to go to the islands of Redang or Lang Tengah, Pantai Merang is enjoyable for those arrived on late flights and would like to savour the early morning sunrise and cool bayou from the sea before taking the boat ride to the islands. There are taxi and car rental services available at the airport terminal.
