About 10 kilometres from Cherating is the famous Chendor Beach. Here, from early July to September, you can watch green turtles or occasionally giant leatherback turtles toil ashore to lay eggs. It's a ritual worth experimenting. Besides the turtles, Chendor Beach offers some fine bathing spots.

Its irresistible appeal also lies in the peace and seclusion you will enjoy at this resort.

By Road : Chedor is accessible from the Kuantan to Kemaman road, about 45 minutes drive from Kuantan

It is located about 2 kilometers from Cherating and a natural extension of Cherating beach. The beach is usually not very crowded compared to other beaches in the area. You can also try traditional foods like otak-otak, satar, and keropok lekor near Chendor town.

3 kilometres up from Chendor Beach, home to the Turtle Sanctuary. Here, from May to September, visitors can watch green turtles and occasionnally giant leatherbacks toil ashore to lay eggs. The Turtle Sanctuary is managed by the Fisheries Department who also provides an information centre.

This sanctuary is a tribute to the gentle giants of the South Seas, the near extinct Leatherback turtles, that made Chendor Beach their destination of choice to lay their eggs. The Chendor Turtle Sanctuary is located only a few minutes drive from Cherating. A small turtle information centre, a souvenir kiosk, and turtle pools with live Green or Ridley turtles are kept for conservation purposes. It is a recommended spot for turtle watching ( April - September )

Timetable :
Tuesdays to Sundays : 9am to 1pm, 2pm to 5:30pm (The lunch break is from 1pm to 2pm. The centre is closed on Mondays.)

Fridays: 9am to 12:00pm, 3pm to 5:30pm (The centre is closed from 12pm to 3pm for Friday prayer)

Night Visiting Hour :
Mondays to Sundays : 7:30pm to 7:30am (The programme during the night include turtle watching, releasing the hatchlings to the sea and the turtle hatching programme)

Direction : If you are coming from Kuantan, follow the direction to Kemamam/Kuala Terengganu towards Cherating by using the scenic coastal highway route No. 3. You will see the signage that takes you to Club Med and Cherating Turtle Sanctuary.
